Launching in Ottawa, Local Art Workshops will be offering a watercolour session for adults at the beginner level. This workshop will offer a fun, supportive environment where you will learn basic watercolour techniques in the first half of the workshop, and a guided tutorial for making your own watercolour card in the second half of the workshop. All materials will be provided. This event will also include a beverage service, and a catered light, al fresco dinner (see menu below).

This workshop is an ideal time to make a Mother's Day card, or to enjoy with your mother in a fun evening out as your gift to her! Hosted in the trendy space of a heritage building in the Byward Market, this event is easily accessible by car or bus.

Please note that there is very limited space.

Al Fresco Dinner Menu*

  • Quinoa Salad: ancient grains tossed with cranberries, almonds, and cucumber

  • Mini Focaccias: sandwiches with an assortment of fillings

  • Modern Antipasto: fresh vegetables, hummus, creamy yogurt dip, assorted nuts, marinated artichokes and eggplant served with olive oil breadsticks

  • Sweet and Fruit: assorted Italian cookies, chocolates, and fresh fruit

*The food will be catered by La Botega in the Byward Market; this menu has been selected to accomodate different dietary restrictions, however any serious allergies should be emailed to:

Food and beverage service will start at 6:00pm, but will be available throughout the evening.

What you should bring:

  • A positive attitude!

  • Any pens, stickers, stencils, etc. you might enjoy adding to your card


  • 6:00pm - Doors open

  • 6:15pm - Sign-in (please arrive at this time)

  • 6:30pm - Part 1 (basic techniques)

  • 7:15pm - Break

  • 7:30pm - Part 2 (tutorial)

  • 9:00pm - Doors close
